The perfect wedding location
When Tom and I were initially looking for wedding venues we were recommended Batemans Barn by a friend. We went to view it with an open mind, determined not to settle on the first place we officially viewed.
That was definitely not something we could stick to! Nicole and John are one of the loveliest (and possibly the most hard working) couples we have met and they have an incredible set up at Batemans Barn.
It has everything you would need for an indoor barn or outdoor wedding - with a flexible and relaxed style which made us feel at home immediately. We were really impressed by the value and competitive rates on the venue hire with lots included and a great choice of added extras like a fire pit and lovely rooms to stay over if you fancy. Then you get Nicole and John who are hands on and able to give a wealth of advice and support from 20+ years of experience running their venue.
Its a dreamy location making the most of the landscape and the history, the barn is simply beautiful. The pictures online simply don't do it justice as you can't feel the love and passion you have to visit in real life.
The courtyard is a tardis - with a traditional marquee connected to the surrounding buildings by pretty oak beamed walkways with a lounge and plenty of space ot make your own - it's the perfect canvas to style in a plethora of ways, including left as is for a beautiful country vibe.
Opposite the courtyard is the bar (which used to be the stables!) which is the perfect size for groups to gather for a perfect pint or a G&T from a top selection of gins and chat with the friendly bar team.
The grounds are the perfect size (arguably, as is the whole venue) and beautifully kept with many picturesque spots. It too is capable of being transformed in a variety of ways depending on the needs of your event. There was ample space for the groomsmen to play football (without hitting anyone) alongside family and friends playing garden games or sitting on the grass in the sunshine.
The ruins of the Old Gatehouse can be found hidden on the edge of the grounds and both Nicole and John are able to share the fantastic history for those interested. We loved this!
Set behind the venue and making part of the walk down to the aisle in the house which is also steeped in history with a lovely honeymoon suite. I highly recommend the bridal party use room five to get ready in the morning as it catches the perfect light for getting ready and some candid photos! Also, Nicole makes an incredible breakfast.
On top of all of this, Nicole and John are very Eco minded and take great care to have positive effect on the wildlife & the environment around them. This is something that really impressed us and is something which is very clearly a passion of theirs. I love following their farm Instagram and seeing all the things they are up to.
So - if you are looking for a place to book your wedding or any event, look no further! We highly recommend seeing the venue in person and speaking to Nicole and John to get a true feel for the place. You won't regret it. Meanwhile, we will be trying to think of a reason to come back and make use of the grounds again..!
Thank you Nicole, John your fabulous team and wonderful suppliers.
