The stunning barn and super amazing ruined gatehouse stole our hearts

We were in love from the moment we hit the tree lined driveway that leads to Batemans Barn our first visit to the venue was way back in May 2019 - we had called, booked an appointment to look round - we felt completely out of our depth and clueless as to what we were looking for or even what we needed to ask.

It was a beautiful bright sunny day, all the trees and flowers were in full bloom. The history of the venue with its beautiful Bishops Palace - now a comfortable family farm house with lovely rooms to stay - the stunning barn and super amazing ruined gatehouse stole our hearts.

We knew this was where we wanted to get married - we thought it couldn’t get any better, then we met Nicole & John. They welcomed us to their beautiful home and venue - gave us a full tour and got us talking about our wedding day plans -  things we loved - what was important to us - suddenly not so clueless after all. The venue is super flexible so we could completely make it our own and create our dream day but now we had help and support.

Once we had booked - which we did immediately - we were able to return for private viewings and meetings as often as we needed - we always received the same warm welcome. We also got invited to private Open days for clients, their family and friends and to Wedding fairs - which were great fun and very useful in helping us find suppliers and pick up some great ideas.
The more we went the more we loved it. We loved the countryside the historical location and the peace and quiet - the more we talked about it the more we couldn’t wait for our special day in July 2020.

Then COVID arrived.....

We remember the announcement like it was yesterday - that feeling of stomach churning dread - were our plans and wedding day dreams now in tatters? Like everyone else we just hoped it wouldn’t last long enough to stop our day - how wrong we were!
From that moment Nicole jumped into action and contacted us to reassure us she had reserved us our weekend in a years time, July 2021 - just in case. A few days rolled by and the situation of course soon got worse and the reality hit us, we weren’t going to be able to get married on our original date. We were very upset but understood that this situation was bigger than any wedding and so our plans were now on hold.

We took the plunge and moved to the date reserved for us and it was the best decision we could have made. Nicole and John supported us through every change and tough decision and by keeping the prices as originally quoted that took care of any budget worries.

Two weeks before the wedding we were full steam ahead - Freedom Day - was just a few days before the wedding and all our hopes and dreams were coming true, then Boris made his announcement. Our hearts sunk yet again and the panic set in.
Just moments after the news Nicole emailed us and told us it was all in hand and she would get back to us, the next day, once she had worked out how many guests the venue could hold with some restrictions still in place - to say she was amazing is an understatement!!!

The day of the wedding arrived, full of nerves we couldn’t believe it was happening. Nicole arrived first thing with a beautiful breakfast for the bridal party who had stayed overnight, with a smile and a few words of reassurance the whirlwind of a day commenced.
What a day! It really was the best day ever, Nicole and John put the finishing touches to the day perfectly, they supported us and manged Covid restrictions to a T! We completely forgot that outside the bubble of our wedding that Covid still existed.
Our guests kept telling us that our venue and our wedding day was truly amazing and I can't agree more - from the first visit right up until the final moments of the day - John, Nicole and their lovely team worked extremely hard and made it the best day ever.

We really can’t recommend Nicole and John and their beautiful venue highly enough. We have come away with the best memories and friendships, we can’t thank them enough.

Hattie and Adam.
