Superb support - Start to finish
We remember clearly the first time we visited Batemans Barn - we popped along to an Open Day and Wedding fair back in 2019, it was a warm sunny afternoon and we received a warm welcome from both Nicole & John, the owners and host of all the weddings at Batemans, alongside the lovely local recommended suppliers. We stayed at the fair for hours, talking to suppliers, enjoing a drink from the lovely stables bar, trying some fish and chips (delicious) and just hanging out- spending time in the grounds - imaging our wedding day.
We went home and its all we could talked about for days - Dale loved that Batemans Barn is part of a working farm too - that is his back ground - a home from home for him. After a few days deliberation and little bit of number crunching we decided that Batemans was for us! We had only looked at one other venue but we just knew when we arrived that this was the perfect place for us - our venue was found.
Once the decision was made we emailed and Nicole reserved the date whilst we confirmed with the Suffolk regsitry service and made sure the suppliers we wished for were available. Everything was falling into place and excitment was growing. We would get married on the 16th May 2020. We visited often to go over our plans and ideas - from the timetable for our wedding weekend - to decoration ideas - until everything was just right and nothing was ever too much trouble.
Then unfortunately Covid hit.
We were devastated and disappointed - like so many other couples - we were so close to our date but couldn’t get married due to Lockdown. Nicole was very calm and kept in touch throughout this difficult time updating us reguarly. We was given a number of options including re-booking for later that year - or a move to to 2021. We so wanted to get married in 2020 due to family members being ill, so we took a date in September 2020 and Nicole suggested we also reserved a back-up date in May 2021 at no extra charge!
As things turned out the back up date was essential - as we were again unable to get married in September 2020. In all we had four dates and each time Nicole and John could not have been more supportive and helpful - they just happily changed it - all the prices we were orginally quoted stayed the same!
Finally the day arrived - 17th July 2021 - we tied the knot! We certainly were not sure what the day would be like, with some restrictions still in place, and not being able to have all our family with us, but honestly we had the most amazing day as we found ourselves in a mini heatwave. Getting married outside under the majestic trees with 'Grace' as our backdrop. It took us back to that first visit with sunshine, bird song and the gorgeous weather. For the whole day we forgot about Covid and enjoyed spending time with loved ones, some we hadn’t seen in months!
We had the most chilled wedding, for our sit down meal we had The fish hut (picked at the wedding fair) which we highly recommend. Joe was absolutely brilliant with us and our guests really enjoyed their meals!
We certainly are feeling sad that it’s all over and really missing Batemans already. We have had so many family members and friends say how gorgeous the venue is and that we picked well.
Thank you Nicole and John for making our day so very special and being there to help guide us through the pandemic restrictions and the wedding!
Honestly, anyone looking for - relaxing, peaceful and beautiful wedding venue with superb support - start to finish - you won’t be disappointed.
