Striking gold at Bateman's Barn
We really feel as though we struck gold when we found Bateman’s Barn. We got very excited the first time we visited, because we could see it had everything we wanted – beautiful surroundings, lots of outdoor space, plenty of comfy places for people to sit, and a gorgeous space for the ceremony and dance floor.
Nicole’s relaxed attitude (how does she manage to be so chilled and so unbelievably efficient at the same time?!) put us at our ease straightaway. We felt like planning a wedding with Nicole wouldn’t be stressful at all.
And how true that was – we loved meeting up with Nicole and John, and nothing was too much trouble for them when it came to helping us organise the wedding. We really benefited from Nicole’s experience and excellent advice: we felt like we were able to make the wedding completely our own, but at the same time Nicole was always on hand to make suggestions about things we hadn’t thought of or weren’t sure about.
(One recommendation we are eternally grateful for was The Fuzz, the brilliant band who played at our wedding. Their set list and energetic performances were amazing, and the dance floor was packed – many of our guests have since commented on how good they were.)
The set-up day was invaluable, and we had a great time decorating the venue with Nicole’s help. It felt like we were able to be really creative and make the venue personal to us, but whenever there was anything that wasn’t quite working Nicole was ready with a solution. She even managed to get someone round to sort out our last-minute technical issues with some speakers we’d hired. Lifesaver!
The wedding day itself was better than we could ever have imagined. It seems a real cliché, but we loved every single minute of it. We were on cloud nine all day, and we could see that our guests were having a brilliant time too.
Everyone made full use of the outdoor space – there was music, space hoppers, giant garden games, a chillout tent, a flying visit by our dog Tilly and even a human pyramid! And the barn made for a brilliant dance floor with lots of room for everyone to throw some shapes!
It was the perfect setting for the kind of wedding we’d wanted – relaxed, simple and fun. Nicole and John made sure the whole day went without a hitch, and looked after us and our guests so well that we didn’t have to worry about a thing. We couldn’t have wished for lovelier people to share such a special day in our lives with.
(And we couldn’t believe our luck when we woke up the next day to find all our wedding bits and bobs neatly stacked up, so that all we had to do was sit down to a delicious cooked breakfast!)
