We love the Suffolk countryside and the location was just perfect
We had been looking for sometime and not yet found the right place or the right feel for our day. Then a friend suggested we take at look at a Barn venue, they had attended an evening party there and thought it was really lovely, quirky place with lots of character and charm.
We decided to go along on an upcoming Open day and have a cheeky look round without feeling any pressure. We had no expectation but we were so glad we went along. We were welcomed in by the very friendly and helpful owners, John and Nicole, offered tea, coffee and home made cake and just allowed to wander around and imagine ourselves in the spaces and right away we knew it was the one.
We love the Suffolk countryside and the location was just perfect - surrounded by fields and amazing old trees the sounds of nature, chickens peeking out from flower beds and lambs in an adjacent meadow, just perfect.
The medieval barn, where you get married, is such a pretty space, with places for candles and flowers, lots of natural light, old beams covered in fairy lights and not to big. It felt really intimate even with just the two of us standing in looking out through the huge old barn doors to the gardens beyond.
Over in a little barn across the courtyard - the quirky and very well appointed bar serving all our favourite drinks is full of character and charm. We had been worried about levels of decoration required at some venues, as our families were contributing, but the spaces here just didn't need it. There is plenty of opportunity and you get a whole day to set up so you can do it all yourselves but just doing as little or as much as you wanted was a great plus for us.
We enjoyed chatting with Nicole and John and left full or excitement armed with many ideas, a list of local suppliers plus a date for the big day.
We could go on and on about it but I think the images speak for themselves - and the both of us and our families agreed it was the best day and the best wedding ever. We were guided and supported from that first meeting to the final send off but always felt in control, and that it was our day and our special place for that day.
Many thanks to John and Nicole, for being just brilliant and understanding and helping us make it the best day ever.
